| OK, so if it isn't California, WHERE is your dream destination to just get away? Some people just don't know where to go or what to do. Please let me help you. I promise you the planning will be a fun time for both of us! The end result? A terrific surprise getaway! |
Catchy sound from the 60's. This page is not so much about actually being in California as it
is about dreaming you were in California and making it a reality. For many years, I watched
the Hour of Power with Dr. Robert H. Schuller. The church service is broadcast from the
Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. I had always wanted to go there, so last year
I planned a spiritual getaway with one of my daughters. She is employed as a Child
Protective Social Worker with the Alleghany Department of Youth and Family Services in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also attends classes at the University of Pittsburgh for her
Master's Degree in Social Work. We went to the Women's Weekend Retreat., otherwise
known as Weekend Extraordinare. Guest speakers were Kathy Ireland, Beth Twitty (mother
of Natalee Holloway (the high school student abducted and presumed killed in Aruba), as well
as other women of courage.
I give myself a little credit for being courageous that weekend. I am a white knuckle flier. I
take two Benadryl's and pray . . . A LOT. I am courageous for hosting a site dedicated to
getaways when I know that a lot of the getaways entail flying. I was able to see the beautiful
gardens surrounding the Crystal Cathedral, and hear and see Rev. Schuller. My daughter
and I drove to Malibu along the Pacific Coast Highway. It was a very memorable time for the
both of us.
What have you always dreamed of doing? Who have you always dreamed of seeing? Where
have you always dreamed of going? or return to?

Do you like to watch people dance? I do. I love to see ballroom dance competitions on
television. Not too long ago, I was caring for two women patients. As I was busy doing a
treatment, I looked up at the television screen. The women were watching a ballroom dancing
competition. We watched the dancers, their costumes and listened to the music for a minute
or two. It made us all feel good, even if we couldn't be dancing at the moment. We were able
to watch people having a good time. We all shared how we had a love for dance. Have me
plan a getaway that involves going to the taping of the dance competition.
Do you like the Kennel Club shows on television? I do. Maybe you would like to have me
plan a getaway which would include seeing the Westminster Kennel Club show held at
Madison Square Garden, New York, New York. A winner this year, was a Dandie Dimont,
partially owned by comedian Bill Cosby.
